Curious Palette - From The Folks Behind Stranger's Reunion

Curious Palette is brought to you by the same people behind Stranger's Reunion, and is now located in Prinsep street. Over here, one can try their popular Berry Ricotta Hotcake and also enjoy a cup of hot coffee.

Tucked in the corner and located just opposite PoMo shopping Mall is a small cafe that can be easily missed. With no signboard or indication from far, it may get a little tricky to find your way here.

WAFFLES WITH BANANA BRULEE & WILD BERRIES COMPOTE & VANILLA BEAN ICE-CREAM ($13.50)
Beautifully presented on an irregular circular black plate is the buttermilk waffle topped with slices of bananas and caramelised sugar on one side and wild berries compote on the other. The berry compote consists of a combination of cranberries, raspberries, blueberries, and some pomegranates.

Center of all this creation is a scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream topped with sugary syrup from the wild berries compote.

The waffle was deliciously crispy with a soft buttery and fluffy texture from the buttermilk. On one side of the waffle, it is paired with sweet banana slices with caramelised sugar, while on the other side, a sweet-sour berries compote to balance out the sweet vanilla ice-cream.

The berries compote was slightly too sour to my liking, but you can taste the fresh berries within, that goes well with the creamy and smooth vanilla ice-cream. For me, the waffle was perfect.

BERRY RICOTTA HOTCAKE ($14.90)
One of their most popular seller is the berry ricotta hotcake with vanilla bean ice-cream, fresh seasonal berries, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. With a 20 minutes waiting time, it was all worth it when the dish arrives with stunning presentation.

I would compare this dish to an upscale version of the hotcakes served at McDonald's with a fluffier and softer interior. Drizzle the maple syrup for a nice glossy sweetness and enjoy the combination of nuttiness from the nuts and seeds, and the refreshing sweetness-sourness from the berries! The ice-cream added a nice contrast to the warm hotcakes and a hint of lavender flavor from the unique lavender sugar.

Note that this dish is meant for sharing among groups otherwise this dish will feel surfeit with this dish after awhile. Otherwise this dish is definitely worth ordering!

With it's beautiful interior and cozy setting, I felt that the desserts we tried were sub-par and can be improved. Even though I left the place slightly disappointed, I still haven't tried their coffee yet. I've heard that their coffee is really good, and this seems like the perfect place to have one.
